We are able to use the hotel´s computer for a minute, so I will try and add some color to Mike´s photos. For some reason, however, my camera memory to USB adaptor is not working.
We spent three days biking, two nights, going from Sevilla to Cordoba. Both nights were free stays: one at the dirt end of a parking lot and the other alongside a pool. Both were near restaurant/hotels named with variaotions of the word "Alamo."
The mountains were quite amazing, though sometimes hard to climb. Not too tall though, mostly 500 to 700 meters. So far we have done 50 to 80 km per day, spaced out by at least two luxurious meals.
That is all for now. Off to Granada.

Gladiator?
Dan has Landed
Dan here, I made it yesterday. Found Mike assembling his bike. We did a walking tour last night (my toe felt okay!) then slept a somewhat muggy night at Triana Backpackers Hostel:http://english.trianabackpackers.com/home . awesome place! our dinner started off with tapas that we ordered without perfect translation (we think deep fried sardine like fish). after a walk around town we closed with an entire kosher rotisserie chicken, which we split. interesting tienda... they sold full chickens (no halves) and potato chips (possibly fried in the chicken drippings?) ... and that is it.
Mike and I are about to eat our gratis breakfast then set off on a bike tour alrededor de la ciudad ... they have bike paths circling Sevilla. It is sunny!
Picture of the fish below. Yeah, that is its spine I pulled out...at least most of them were without it...

Mike has Landed.
Waiting out the rain storm on the deck of our Sevilla Hostel, Dan should get here in about 1.5 hours.

The Things We Carry
Approximate Routes
Below are our approximate routes, which Mike wanted me to post for everyone. I hope you didn't ask in order to find out for yourself!
We fly into Sevilla, then do a loop in Andalucia. We then take a bus from Malaga to Barcelona and a ferry from there to a bit north of Rome. Next we do a "z" down the western coast of Italy, up and over to the eastern coast, then down to Bari. From Bari, we take a ferry to Dubrovnik, Croatia and make our way up the coast to Zadar, where we fly from.

A Detour From The Beaten Path: Two Bikers with Detour Panniers
Dan and Mike, recent february graudates of Middlebury College, decided to postpone their entrance into graduate school and the workforce, respectively, to embark on a 50 day, 1500 mile bike ride from Sevilla, Spain to Zadar, Croatia. This is their story.
The name of the blog, A detour with detours, refers not only to this exciting detour from their lives in America, but also the very bags they will take with them. Detour XCountry Panniers. (See Dan´s next post)
